Hope everyone had a Happy Holiday today, no matter what you belive!

Blessed by Lady Fortuna

Joxer loved to lay in the dark and count his blessings. Everything in his life had changed so fast that sometimes he just needed to take his time and think about it all. The good and the bad.

Some people might think he was being his usual silly self to sit in the dark and think about all the bad that had happened to him. He had to though, for all the nastiness that he’d been through had led him to the good. Without it, his life wouldn’t be so damned perfect so he had to be thankful for the bad.

The bad, of course, were his former friends. In truth Xena might still be counted as a friend. Gabrielle though had gone from the girl he had a crush to an overly judgmental woman who could not see anyone else’s view but her own. Her path of The Way blinded her to anything else.

He had never been a good warrior. Still everyone got luck once in a while so when bandits had attacked and Gabby refused to fight he had done what he could to protect her.

By the end of the fight he had a near fatal wound and had lost his blood innocence.

Despite the fact that he saved her, Gabrielle was furious. The bard had berated him for killing, had said she would have rather died than take another’s life and now that he had killed not only was he damned but since he had done it for her, her soul was stained as well.

Xena had insisted they camp for two days to tend to Joxer but by the end of that time he was still unable to travel and had, quite frankly, gotten tired of hearing Gabrielle. He didn’t blame Xena from moving on, while she was a sort of friend with Joxer she was in love with Gabby. They left, the Warrior Princess looking over her shoulder only once.

Without help Joxer figured he would die. He wanted to do so with a clear conscious so he started to pray to the only God he had really worshiped for his entire life, wanting to make things right before moving on to Hades’ realm.

Only instead of dying he had been picked up in strong arms and taken to a temple, tended to by the War God Himself. Joxer had been amazed, while traveling with his friends he had turned his back on his God and instead of being blasted to the elements he was taken care of.

“You’re thinking too much Joxer, go to sleep.”

He smiled. “I can’t Ares, it’s Solstice Morning and I’m just so happy. I’m afraid if I go to sleep it will all be a dream.”

His lover chucked. “Guess I’ll have to convince you.”

Calloused hands started to move across his torso and Joxer gasped. He had been truly blessed by Lady Fortuna.

“Love you so much Ares.”

“Love you too my little fool. Merry Solstice.”
