“Charity? What kind o’ poofy name for a flower is ‘Charity’? S’not gonna make me feel manly plantin’ that.”
“The blue flowers’ll look nice next to the daisies.”
“It’s poofy.”
“Then call it Jacob’s Ladder.”
“Why’s he need a ladder? And how’s he climbin’ a flimsy plant?”
Angel silently counted to ten. He didn’t know what was worse, Spike’s remarks about foliage, or the “Let’s get a puppy” conversation. Sometimes, he really wondered why he loved him. . .
Spike kissed him softly while sneaking the Charity back onto the shelf.
. . . other times, he didn’t have to.
