Ooo, it's been awhile... Hopefully, I haven't lost my touch!
Fandom: Supernatural
Title: A Question of Choice
Pairing(s): Sam/Dean
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Darkfic!, Angst, Horror, Blood, Deathfic
Wordcount: 500
The demon looked back at him through Sam's eyes, silent laughter jerking the corners of his mouth in faltering staccato - his face a foreign slide of hatred and vengeance.
'Oh god, how did it ever come to this?'
Another scream as the demon's foot came into contact with the same broken rib. He rocked with it, the scream having been surprised out of him. It wasn't the pain so much as -
This is SAM, dammit!!!
Another kick, low in the abdomen this time. Flares of hot agony rolled across him like cotton sheet, rippling, scratchy and warm.
"I've got it Dean - I know what I'm doing."
"Sam. Sammy - you don't know enough yet! You don't have total control over your abilities, yet! Just listen to me, dammit!"
Anger - cold waves of it, jaw set in frustrated contempt.
"Enough, Dean! I think I have a better idea of what I can and can't do, than you do."
And how very, very wrong he was. Fear overlaid arrogant anger and Sam screamed and screamed and screamed -
Until the screams stopped and the pain began. There was no escape. It knew what Dean knew and it knew what Sam knew. The endless training, the hard knocks, the long nights - all of it.
And it was a better student than either of them.
"I told you Dean -" It hissed, spittle flying furiously from it's blood-spattered lips. "I told you and told you and told you."
With each 'told you', another kick landed on his ribs.
Numbness over took him, stealing the life fom his bones, as he spat liquid maroon upon the floor, body instinctively trying to crawl away from the monster that was now his brother.
He gasped in pain as he was jerked up and against the stone wall - his favorite shotgun, which was clutched limply, uselessly in his right hand - lifted to smack itself into his flesh, barrel cutting into the soft meat under his chin, choking him.
"Don't make me hurt you." It rasped. And laughed a deep rolling laugh of triumph and evil joy - Sam's face an alien threat in a familiar setting.
It was truly over.
He smiled then.
It was all lost.
Sammy, his father - it was over.
So many lessons unlearned, so many choices unmade. He missed them then, missed the way they were, but -
The relief was immense.
He smiled for all that he loved - a glowing brilliant smile, that made the Thing in Sam's body pause, then roar in realising, outraged defeat.
He smiled a smile of one who is righteous and lost and saved all at once.
He smiled in the fall of the silver moon, and then he saved himself from what would happen next.
Dean Winchester smiled his secret smile -
And pulled the trigger.
Hope ya liked it guys!
*Huggles you all madly...*
Goes back to other fics in progress...
