HP: Ten drabbles, misc. pairings

Disclaimer: the characters belong to JK Rowling.

Note: All these drabbles were first written in French for various challenges of [livejournal.com profile] hp_100_mots. Kudos to Deeble who kindly betaed them for me even if she doesn't usually read slash. All remaining mistakes are mine, I had the cheek to turn a deaf ear to her advice sometimes XD

Challenge: 042 - It hurts.
Pairing: Albus Dumbledore/Elphias Doge, implied Albus/Gellert.
Rating: PG.
Summary: They didn’t even meet, but Gellert swept Elphias away from Albus’ life all the same.
Title: Killing Me Slowly.

We had plans, Albus.

I’m not talking about dreams, idle fancies entertained, knowing all the while they’re not going to happen. Ours were plans, meticulously elaborated, night after night, behind the closed curtains of your bed or mine.

We were supposed to travel abroad. More than that: we were supposed to be together.

But when Fate swept our plans away, you kept me out.

I waited; I wanted to give you time.

Then he came, and he became the centre of your world.

His going away utterly crushed you.

That my arms were still open then, you didn’t even notice.

Challenge: 064 - Habit.
Pairing: Albus/Gellert.
Rating: PG-13?
Title: Twenty-one Days.

Twenty-one days. They say that it only takes twenty-one days to turn a conscious action into a habit. So can you imagine, Gellert, what you’ve done to me in twice this amount of time? How deeply the feel of your skin under my hands is imprinted in my memory, how intimately the taste of lemon and your kisses are linked in my mind?

Do you have any idea of how addicted to you you've made me - to your smell, to your whole being? No, you don’t.

My name is Albus Dumbledore, and I need my daily dose of Gellert Grindelwald.

Challenge: 120 - Unexpected.
Pairing: Bill/Severus.
Rating: G
Title: The Reason Isn’t Always The One You Thought.

Severus didn’t especially enjoy mysteries, and this invitation to Bill’s birthday was one. He had barely crossed the threshold of the private dining room when he understood. The table was set for fourteen. Livid, he was about to backtrack without a word for anyone when a hand grabbed him. Weasley.

“Snape… Severus, you can’t leave!”

His sincerity is rather well faked, Severus thought.

“Because otherwise you’d be thirteen around the table?” he snapped cuttingly.

Bill looked around and lowered his voice. “No. Because this whole dinner thing was only a pretense to see you again,” he explained with disarming candour.

Challenge: 085 - David Bowie Song Title: Play It Safe.
Pairing: Al/Score.
Rating: PG
Title: Better Safe Than Sorry.

“My father told me everything about Dementors,” Albus explained. “The only way to get rid of them is to have a memory strong enough, happy enough to enable you to create a Patronus.”

“Al, if your father told you everything about Dementors, he has certainly mentioned that they disappeared when he vanquished You-Know-Who,” Scorpius protested.

Al shrugged, sitting next to him on the couch.

“Don’t you think it would be wiser to have a memory in store, just in case?” he asked, fingers feathering a caress on Scorpius’ arm.

Lazily, Scorpius started unbuttoning his shirt. “Just to be sure, then.”

Challenge: 120 - Unexpected.
Character: Percy Weasley.
Rating: PG
Title: You Should Have Asked The Right Persons.

Rumour has it that we should feel sorry for Percy’s girlfriends. The young man is said to be less attentive, much less forward than any of his brothers. Not very interested in intimacy, actually. That would be why we don’t hear about any of his feminine conquests.

As is often the case, rumour is right.

And as is often the case, rumour is wrong.

Because, you see, despite his prim look, young Percy Weasley has proven to be quite the naughty boy, lacking neither imagination nor endurance. And if you don’t believe me, just ask Neville, Colin, Miles or Eddie…

Challenge: 146 - Power.
Pairing: Harry/Dudley implied.
Rating: PG-13.
Title: A Shift In Power.

Harry would never have thought he’d do that one day at the Dursley’s, but he needed something familiar, comforting…

He was alone; no one would see him. He took his wand out. Ran his fingers on it, lightly.

It was Dudley who saw him.

Sharp intake of breath. A step back, instinctively. But Dudley couldn’t take his eyes off the show.

Harry smiled inwardly. The balance of power had just shifted between him and his cousin: Dudley wanted what Harry had, and his parents would never buy it for him.

“Do you… do you want to touch it?” he offered.

Challenge: 133 - Elvis Presley Song Title: And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind
Pairing: James/Lucius.
Rating: PG
Title: Meeting.

Lying in the grass, James smiled, relaxed at last.

“This is a Quidditch stadium,” an aristocratic voice commented. “Not some kind of public garden.”

Opening an eye, James opted for an apologetic smile. “Sorry. Young father who hasn’t had the occasion of touching his broom since way too long ago.”

“I know how it is,” the grey-eyed man said, extending a hand to help James up.

The man briefly kept James against him. “If my experience serves, Quidditch isn’t the only thing you may have missed lately,” he suggested, a hand on James’ thigh to emphasize his words.

James shivered.

Challenge: 024 - Outside In.
Characters/Pairing: Vernon, Petunia, hint of Harry/Dudley
Rating: PG
Title: Suspicion

“Petunia!”

Vernon Dursley’s voice was made for anything but whispering.

“Petunia,” he called again. She ran in, hands upon her apron.

“What is it, Vernon?”

Vernon hesitated. What if his eyes had betrayed him? But he had to know. “Walking by the living room… I think I saw Duddy touching the boy.”

“What do you mean, ‘touching’?”

“Touching touching,” insisted Vernon, exasperated. “He had his hand on the boy’s knee, there.”

Petunia raised her eyebrows.

“Go check,” he enjoined her.

Of course, when she arrived, both cousins were watching TV from opposite ends of the sofa, ostensibly ignoring each other.

Challenge: 133 - Elvis Presley Song Title: Got My Mojo Working
Pairing: Narcissa/Fleur.
Rating: G.
Title: There Are Things You Can Buy…

Spending the whole day being pampered in a beauty salon: 40 Galleons.

Devilishly sexy underwear, to be sure to hold all the winning cards and build up her confidence: 25 Galleons, 11 Sickles.

Dress robes made to measure by a young Belgian creator, as-of-yet unknown in Britain: hundreds and hundreds of Galleons.

How much all of her jewellery is worth, Narcissa doesn’t even count - suffice it to say that nowadays, no one could afford such a sum.

Make-up, perfume, accessories - everything she needs to complete her appearance: exactly 8 Galleons.

That night, charming a Veela only half her age: priceless.

Challenge: 080 - Epiphany/Realisation.
Pairing: Albus/Elphias.
Rating: G.
Title: It Wasn’t About The Sports.

There was nothing in the world that Albus hated as fiercely as he hated Quidditch.

The violence of his feelings had surprised him at first. He didn’t attend the matches, didn’t speculate about the Cup - certainly, indifference was enough to reflect this. Wasn’t his annoyance at people laughing in the library, or professors less knowledgeable than himself, stronger than this irrational hatred for Quidditch?

Then he had seen Elphias, flushed under the Gryffindor paint of his cheeks, and in his eyes the fever and admiration that Albus believed only he could trigger in the young man. And he had understood.
