The old man sighed as he stared down at the files of the two dead men.

They had been good agents, his very best and they had been partners for many years.


But they had been such opposites:

One had dark hair and brown eyes; the other blond hair and blue eyes.

One had a smile that he flashed with ease; the other rarely used his.

One had a raucous sense of humor; the other’s dry and occasionally acerbic.

Once seemed at ease with the world and extroverted; the other fretful and introverted.

One seemed happy; the other brooding.



They had died in a hail of gunfire… out numbered…out gunned.


They had been found behind a barricade of boxes in a corner of the building. One agent sheltering the other with his body..…until his clip was expended…..and his weapon empty.

It was fitting that they died together. They had been lovers for nearly as long as they had been partners.

To the best of his knowledge, the old man was the only one who knew this to be true.

He sighed once again as he wrapped a black band around each of the files.

Strange how opposites seemed to attract.
