He loves this bar, Raphael reflects, sliding closer to the man also wearing a large, dark trench coat. The people here never seem to realize he's different from the regular patrons. The waiters don't even blink when he hands them money from a three-fingered hand. They don't care as long as they're getting paid.

The drinks are a good way to chill out for the rest of the evening after a couple of fights, even when they take him half way across the city. That damn guy in the ski mask interrupted one of his fights again tonight and managed to get away from him yet again. One night, he's gonna catch him and shove that golf club right down his yap.

But that isn't happening tonight. He managed to lose his track again. He swears he must be moving over the tops of vehicles. He can follow anybody over the roof tops or through the sewers but loses him every damn time. Now, though, he's tracking an entirely different culprit for entirely different reasons.

He sips his scotch, having first developed a taste for it from the detective movies he enjoys so much. It's a drink a man like Bogie's characters would choose, and if he was a man, not a turtle, he'd be a man like him. But it doesn't matter what kind of a man, turtle or human, he is in this place. It clearly doesn't matter what he is to the person sitting across from him.

The stranger lowers his red wine and licks his lips. His eyes seem to shine at Raphael through the bar's dim lighting. "Green looks good on you."

"Really?"

"Oh, yes." He smiles, being careful not to show his fangs. Turtle soup will be a grand appetizer for what he's planned tonight.

The End
