A rich father runs shaking fingers through his thinning hair as the slamming of the front door seems to still vibrate throughout his entire mansion or, rather, his son's. He should have known better. When will he learn? Lex is his own man. The one thing that remains predictable about his boy is that when cornered into a situation he doesn't like, he will come out fighting as fiercely a tiger, ruthlessly as a shark, and as underhanded as the Luthor he is.

Lionel sighs, his heavy breath echoing. He should have seen this coming. Of course Lex would be infuriated that he had found a way to not only buy out his shares but to also scoop his very home out from under him. Of course he'd react this way.

"Damn it," Lionel mutters, reaching into his pocket. There's only one thing left to do now. Maybe Jonathan can persuade his wife to join them. A few waterworks from Martha Kent should do the trick to curtail her boy quite nicely.

Lionel's hand closes around his cell just as it begins to ring. "Luthor."

"We screwed up!"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean not only is Martha not joining us, but my cheek hurts like Hell and she's driving the boys to Las Vegas in my damn truck!"

"WHAT?!" Lionel bellows.

"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!" Jonathan bellows back. "AT LEAST THEY WEREN'T TALKING ABOUT GETTING MARRIED BEFORE!"

Lionel sighs again. "I backed a Luthor into a corner."

"What do we do now?"

"I'll have my private plane land in your field. We'll easily beat them to Vegas -- "

"But what if we can't change their minds?"

"We'll change them," Lionel vows.

Jonathan hangs up with a vow of his own. If they can't change them, at least they'll be there for their wedding.
