Casey glanced nervously around them. After all the years he’d been coming down here as a friend of the Turtles, he still didn’t like the sewers. Donatello’s first words of accusing him of being a claustrophobic when he’d said he didn’t want to come down here still rang in his ears. It was true. He was claustrophobic, but there were many other reasons to dislike the sewers as well.
You could never be too sure what you were stepping on down here, and you never knew when something else might come along. Giant rats and talking turtles weren’t the only things that lived down here. There were snakes, some as long as a semi truck, and other reptiles. Leatherhead wasn’t the only giant gator that had been found down here; parents had been depositing pets with which their children could no longer play down in this place for centuries.
Casey jumped as he saw movement up ahead but tried not to let it show, especially when he realized it was just a rat hurrying after some discarded food it had spotted. Not for the first time did Casey wonder how Splinter had managed to make himself and his boys survive for so many years down here when he had been the only adult caring for them. It was truly a wonder they had survived at all, but then, it was a wonder they existed too.
And a wonder for which Casey knew he was both glad and was lucky to have. He couldn’t imagine his life without the Turtles, although he could imagine his life without having to come back into this muck. “You’re too jumpy,” Raphael muttered beside him and then, without warning, gave him a reason to be. He turned swiftly, grabbing his shoulders and slamming him up against the slimy, wet wall of the sewer.
Casey barely had time to react, or even consider how disgusting the things pressing against his back were, before Raphael’s beak was on his lips. He kissed him hard, and although his tongue was smaller than most humans’, he was able to do things with that tongue inside of Casey’s mouth, and incite feelings within him, that no man or woman with whom Casey had ever been could do. As swiftly as he’d been turned, Casey found himself no longer caring about the sewer as he kissed Raphael back just as passionately.
