slashthedrabble 506: Costume (Sorry for the late post, but I figured it would be okay when I saw there was no new challenge yet. I've been sick or would've already had this written and posted.)

Mitch looked warily at the round, red nose that blared back at him in the mirror. He adjusted his tie, which had actually been sewn crooked to begin with, and sighed. He did not like his appearance. He was never so goofy! But there was a good reason he was dressing like this, he reminded himself, a reason that became clear as crystal when his husband popped into their bedroom behind him and burst out into a huge grin.
Cam’s gloved hands fluttered around his gaping, grinning mouth. He could barely believe his eyes. “M-Mitch?” he asked, his voice trembling and high-pitched in his excitement.
“Howdy, pardner,” Mitch drawled, swiveling around in Cam’s chair. Cam squealed and clasped his hands over his mouth in glee. “Oh, my! Oh, my!” he cried, waving his hands. “I don’t believe you -- you dressed up like this for me!”
“Yes, I’m a clown,” Mitch said with another resigned sigh, but then he grinned. “I’ll be anything for you.” He was rewarded with a kiss so passionate that it was a wonder his big, red shoes didn’t pop right off his steaming feet. Yes, he would do anything for Cam, even dress as a clown.
