The footsteps were the first clue to his visitor's identity…the distinct voice was the confirmation.

"Lex."

Clark felt the cushion next to him depress as Lex sat down. "I heard about what happened. How can I help?"

As usual Lex was close, almost too close, but this time it helped.

This time Clark turned to Lex, then reached up to touch his face. He stopped at the soft smile and his super hearing kicked in. When he heard Lex's heart thundering in his chest, Clark realized he was seeing clearly for the first time.

"It's enough that you're here."
