The first sound Angel hears when his soul returns is the ringing in his ears. It's loud, it's vicious, and it's condemning him to remember what he's done /this/ time. It starts with what he's said, what they've said to him, and what he's done... the sound of human screams are like an orchestra to his pain. He hears a voice reminding him that one day he's gonna die. And Xander's gonna be there. Xander's gonna watch. Xander's gonna make sure it all stops; all the screams, all the words, all the guilt. With Xander, his soul is safe.
