In stories that begin "once upon a time" there is always a sense of recognition. When one of the lovers is placed under curse and set upon the other, neither of them can kill the other.
In a land far, far away, when faced with the moon-maddened eyes of the beast that is the man I love, who loves me, we would both survive this. He would stop stalking towards me, sense our connection, his scent on my skin, something equally improbable. Blood-lust overcome, evil forces thwarted, we would start our happily ever after.
But this is no fairy tale.
