For the "NATURE" challenge:
Patient
300words by nev
rated: PG
pairing: Logan/Bling
fandom: Dark Angel
Because I just got the urge to watch an old ep today, and "Out" was the one I chose :p
disclaimer: Dark Angel belongs to James Cameron, Charles Eglee, et. al.
summary: A L/B take on the workout scene in "Out".
---
Bling was, by nature, a patient man.
Took a lot of patience, being in his line of work. Men like Logan hired Bling because he was the best, and he hadn’t gotten that way by giving up on the cases that’d given up on themselves.
Logan… Tried Bling’s patience like no one else. ‘Cause he wasn’t the kind to throw in the towel. On anything. Bling had learned that. But when it came to Logan’s walking again…
“My legs don’t work. That’s never going to change.”
Logan was frustrated. Bling understood. Handling frustrated patients was just another part of his job. Like as not, the people he worked with recovered eventually. He just had to ward away the fear and doubt that stood in their way til they realized they were gonna make it to that point.
There was a bullet fragment lodged at the base of Logan’s spine that was never going to come out. Sam had said it was a miracle Logan had even survived the shooting that had paralyzed him.
Logan was probably right. He was never going to walk again.
Bling knew that. But believing… Was a whole other thing.
And the walking was isn’t even the issue here.
Bling leaned in until Logan had to meet his eyes. Surprise, and something else, flashed behind Logan’s glasses, as Bling brushed Logan’s lips with his.
Logan’s mouth opened on a startled breath. The temptation to chase it back to its source, with his tongue, was strong.
Instead Bling kept Logan’s gaze, patience wavering beneath the strength of the feelings that lurked beneath his stern words.
“If I ever hear you talk that way again… I will beat your skinny ass. Wheelchair or no wheelchair.”
Being patient had its place.
So did being real.
“Now. Let’s go again.”

I really liked Bling... I wish he didn't just disappear like he did. And now I have to watch Out again, and proabably any other episode he's in so I can do more of THAT in my head...
