Pairing: Wesley/Xander
Watching and waiting
Not surprising that Wesley watches… it’s what he’s supposed to do, after all. Though it’s not his charge that he observes so intensely.
He looks at the boy, bloodied without/bruised within, and knows. Knows because he feels it himself.
Useless.
He wants to gather Xander into his arms and steal an innocent, illicit kiss from soft pink lips. He wants to make all the pain disappear.
He wants to tell Xander that it won’t always hurt like this, that one day everyone will realise how indispensable he is.
But he can’t, because he’s still waiting for that day himself.

oh, oh! The hurt! The hurt! This was a lovely little ficlet! A sweet and melancholy look into the mind of the gorgeous genius that was virtually unappreciated until it was too late... *Sigh* - so when WILL he take Xander into his arms, dear? I'll be in line for THAT ficlet! And this one was well worth the time (OH so worth it!) to read - again, and again and again...
