Hands pin down wrists hard enough to grind bones together, but the pain barely registers. By now, it’s one large hurt. A gentle touch has become the hardest blow.

There are never gentle touches.

Knees dig into thighs, deep enough to leave bruises. They’ll be their own black and blue badges of courage. Signs that they can (maybe) make it to the end.

Blunt teeth bite down hard in the most sensitive of places. Almost. . .

It’s nothing.

They are broken, bruised, and bleeding, all from one fight. All from The Fight.

Maybe, one day, this will fix them.
