Title: Can’t Lose What You Never Had
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard/Beckett
Category: Angst, AU
Challenge: 027-Beginnings [livejournal.com profile] au100 Prompt: 001-Beginnings
Word count: 497…
A/N: Man did I find it *hard* to cut this fic down to 500 words…. I just hope it all makes sense....

John continued to stare into his empty glass. Everything had gone wrong, so horribly wrong.

“All you’ve to do is pick up the phone and dial Rodney’s number.”

“I’m sorry, since, when did my personal life become public?”

Kate smirked. “Since, you started mopping around. And y’know you’re starting to scare the second graders with your mood swings. You’re worse than Elizabeth.” She gazed at him, searchingly. “I know it’s harder ‘said than done’, but would you rather live the rest of your life in regret and think: ‘What if?’ or would you prefer to get off your Goddamn lazy ass and do something?!”

“It’s complicated”

“It’s only, complicated if we make it complicated.”

“Smartass,” he muttered.

Kate grinned. “Call them,” she said, handing her cell phone over.

“And what am I supposed to say? ‘Hey, guys, it’s John here, we really need to talk about the other night.’”

“Yes, we do.”

John jumped back, his throat dried up as his gazed, fell onto the table.

Kate stood up, squeezing Carson’s hand as she headed toward Elizabeth.

As both men sat down, an awkward silence erupted.

Rodney took hold of John’s hand, only to startle the second grade teacher into jerking his hand back.

Rodney glanced at Carson, indecisively. “John,” he began his voice, soft and full of reassurance, “We really do need talk about the other night.”

Slowly, John raised his head as Rodney continued. “We need to know where we stand. We had a talk-”

“At least you’ve talked about it!” he snapped.

Rodney closed his eyes, running a hand over his mouth. “That’s not fair and you know it! We’ve tried calling you, b-but you keep avoiding our calls and you keep avoiding us!”

John shot up, anger flashed through him. “I don’t need this!” he growled, stalking off.

“That’s right! Run away like usual!” Rodney yelled.

John stopped in his tracks, fast-tracking toward both men.

“You’re selfish!” Rodney snapped. “Here we are ready to give the three of us a chance a-and you, you run away, like the spoilt and ungrateful bastard that you are!”

“Don’t you-”

“Let’s talk about this calmly and rationally,” Carson said.

Rodney snorted, “Didn’t I tell you? Didn’t I tell you he’d be like this?!”

“Fuck-you!”

Rodney smirked at the irony.

“John, luv, I-we, know ye’re scared, but…”

“I’m not scared!”

Rodney snorted, muttering the word: “Whatever” before stalking off.

Carson gazed at John. “John-”

“Are you coming?” Rodney yelled.

Carson sighed. “We’re prepared to wait, for you, John. But don’t take too long, because by the time you’ve made ye mind up, we mightn’t be around.”

With that, he left.

This wasn’t how it was meant to be. It wasn’t supposed to be this hard-this complicated. He was supposed to tell them the truth, tell them, how he really felt, so that they could start a relationship, together-just the three of them. But, now, now it looked like he’d lost them forever-and all because of his cowardness.

Title: Move On
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard/Beckett
Category: AU
Challenge: 028-Endings[livejournal.com profile] au100 Prompt: 003-Ends
Summary: Was it really supposed to be that simple?
A/N: ETA cause I figured I should put the McKay/Sheppard/Beckett fics in one post, instead of two.

Was it really supposed to be that simple?

Was he really supposed to just move on-just like that?

Was he just supposed to forget the past eight months?

Was he supposed to live with the memories and the memories alone?

Was he just supposed to reflect on the last eight months as a mistake?

Was he just supposed to give up?

Was he just supposed to listen to John, when he said it was over?

Was just supposed to listen to Carson, when he agreed with the idiot?

Or was he supposed to fight this? Fight them?

He knew what he had to do-fight them.

Make them see sense, make them aware that he didn’t give a damn, whether or not John had AIDS.

He had to make them aware that he wanted to stand by them, stand by them both-till death does them apart.

He had to make them see sense, had to make them aware that he wasn’t just about the sex-that he had changed.

He had to prove to them both that he had changed-although, he still hadn’t figured out how.

He had to make them aware that there wasn’t going to be an end for them and that they were meant to be together.

He had to make them aware that he’d fallen for them both.

He had to make them aware that he wasn’t giving up.

He had to make them aware of a lot of things and whether or not time was on his…their side, well that, that was a completely different matter all together.

He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, before entering the hospital bay and walking into the side bay.

And today, today he would show them, how fate has planned their future out, together.

you've been drabbling your heart out this week, haven't you? LOL!

These are both sweetly sad, but I love Rodney's determination in the second one, even though John is ill.

John just needs to loosen up and take happiness where he can get it...

And I sooo agree withn Darkhavens on this last one - Rodney can really surprise you at times, and you have captured this quality well!
