Rewarded
Fandom: Angel, Post-NFA
Summary: What we want is different from what we deserve. (Two drabbles)
Pairing: Angel/Wes
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I shall not tell a lie. I own nothing.
Note: It sort of ignores Wes/Fred. So feel free to do that too.
He Wants
Wes smiled wide. This was perfect. The sky was a wonderful shade of blue, the sun was shining, birds were chirping, and Angel. He was here, which meant he wasn’t There. It meant the battle was lost, but at least they both were up here. They both were okay. They were together.
“He’s still alive, you know. This is just your . . . reward. For your heroism.” Angel passed him a cup of tea. “This is what you wanted.”
This was what he wanted. Yes. He felt his heart contract, expand, and fill his chest. It was finally over.
He Deserves
This was his reward for listening to a man that couldn’t see anything but himself.
No.
This was his reward for trusting a creature that drenched itself in blood.
No.
This was his reward for blindfolding himself and filling his eyes with sappy little hearts. This was his reward for doing anything Angel asked.
Wes tried to make himself smaller, all while minding his wounds. They couldn’t catch the scent of fresh blood. He’d learned quickly, if you don’t move, They don’t bother you.
This was his reward.
He should have never saved Connor. Maybe then, he’d be in Heaven.
