Ari was right. It pained Eric to admit it but it was true. He singlehandedly fucked over his best friend’s career. Maybe Ari was right about the other thing that dribbled out of his mouth today too. No, he knows Ari was right about the other thing. That’s why Eric was sitting in the bathtub in Johnny’s condo watching the red liquid flow down the drain along with the water. The water was hot but Eric felt cold as his eyes followed the swirl of red as it disappeared down the drain.
The only thing that would save Medellin (and Vince’s career) now was a tragedy. It was the only way people would go see the movie. Eric knew that now; he knew it the second Ari said it, but there was no way in hell Eric was going to tell Ari he was right. His eyelids feel like lead and he has to close them. It’s just too hard to keep them open.
He’s glad that the guys are not home right now. They’d probably be banging on the door wondering what the hell was taking him so long. Drama would be pissed because the water been running for over an hour. Turtle would be bitching because he’d probably have to go piss right now. Selfish reasons. Not Vince though. No, Vince would be worried. Eric never showers for this long and then, knowing Eric’s luck, Vince would notice Eric’s shower stuff was still outside the bathroom. That’s why he’s glad. He is glad because Vince isn’t worrying right now. Right now, he’s probably out sweet talking two chicks and he should be.
He’s doing the right thing. Eric knows this. This way Vince can get the career he should have instead of the one Eric’s completely fucked up. This way he can’t be there to fuck it up. This way Eric doesn’t have to worry that his feelings for Vince are showing through every god damned day. Eric’s so fucking tired of fighting so hard. So very tired. Now, now, he can let go and he does as his head too feels too heavy to hold up any longer and his arms go numb from the blood loss.
Eric hears the door bang open and the guys enter, but he can’t be concerned with that any longer. There’s no need for concern anyway. They can’t stop him now. They can’t save him anymore. He only hopes they will understand. He only hopes Vince will understand. His whole body is numb with pain and he knows it’s almost over. He’s almost finished. As he drifts way into whatever comes after life, the last thing he hears is Vince calling to him from the other side of the door. Eric smiles with the last of his strength as he departs.
A/N: This is my first attempt at a drabble or whatever this size fiction is called. I found it very hard to write as I love to give detailed descriptions of things. Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed it!
