Crowley knew everything about temptation. (Well, a demon who didn't would do well to read the manual*. And a demon who admitted he didn't indeed deserved whatever punishment Below saw fit to dole out.)
He could easily have tempted the angel into doing pretty much anything, they had known each other for so long.
But it wasn't temptation he had in mind, temptation wouldn't have felt right; he wanted to seduce Aziraphale.
And in this difference lay the reason for Crowley's hesitation to make his move today, because the demon knew only one thing about seduction.
That it could fail.
*Yes, there really was one. Either a junior demon had wanted to impress his boss, or someone had been very, very bored Below. Crowley had been issued his copy, that he had sadly lost very early on (free to a good home^^)

I love Crowley's determination not to take the 'easy' option.

It isn't a proper GO drabble without a footnote, is it?
I think Crowley would desperately want to get things right in his courting of Aziraphale. Which of course will make him terribly clumsy... and totally endearing. (OK, I kind of have to write all this part some day.)
I love the Guards books, but Discworld is about the only fandom in which I don't try to ship the characters - except maybe for canon couples, if that.
