The plea in the usually confident tone wasn't lost to me. In fact, it stirred what I had come to recognize as tenderness in me - especially where he was concerned. "Sure, Illya", I replied. "Wherever you want to go."
He regarded me with skepticism. He knows me too well. "My treat", I added
as incentive.
A sudden twinkle appears in those fathomless eyes. "Wherever I want to go, Napoleon."
I was not a question. Devious Russian. "Wherever", I confirmed.
Silence; then, "Do you have a date for that soiree you are attending this evening?"
I shook my head. "Come to think of it, no. I'd be delighted if you would join me."
I so love it when I render him speechless. He nodded. "Great! We have to stop by my apartment to change." Another nod. "Let's go."

Puzzled, he obeyed. When he had disappeared into the bedroom, I ducked into the guest room and changed.
An hour later, for there is a shower in the guest room, I emerged fully dressed and hurried into the living room hoping I had beat him.
The vision that stood on my balcony, bathed in the moonlight, looked like something from the other world.
He must have sensed my presence for he turned and smiled. For the moment I ignored the pounding of my heart and concentrated on the plain dress tux - done is various shades of blue - how it molded to every inch of that perfect body, how it enhanced those soul-stealing blue eyes; even that crown of golden hair seemed to glow brighter.
I held out my arms. He came into them. Our lips met.
We woke the next morning in each others arms, sticky and utterly content.
My $49.99, compared to the $200.00 one I had considered, had been well spent
