If one was to inquire of Leonard McCoy, as many women and men have done, if James Kirk danced his answer would be “Not in less he gets laid right after.” He is wrong, however. For James Kirk does dance, though it is not the in the way of the connotation of the word. I have watched as, day in and day out, the youngest captain in Starfleet dances his way around red tape, customs of other worlds, and confrontations. While these performances are quite something to behold, I find myself most interested in the dancing he does around his emotions. It is he who hides his emotions behind walls and not his Vulcan first officer as most are led to believe. It is he who ignores the signs and silent messages practically shoved on him by aforementioned first officer. It is James Tiberius Kirk who will eventually give in and reciprocate the love Mr. Spock feels for him, under that tough Vulcan logic, because no one can dance forever.
