Responsibility

Julius Grant has just seen Dan Stark and Jack Bailey in his bar’s stockroom. Not an unusual occurrence in itself; the duo had often gone there for strategizing.

The difference is that this time Julius has seen them naked, and engaged in a sexual act.

Thankfully, he thinks, neither Dan nor Jack knows that they had been inadvertently spied upon.

But the more Julius thinks on it, the more conflicted he becomes.

If he tells Liz Traynor about this, it will be all over between her and Jack. And he knows he really ought to tell her, because what woman would ever consent to letting her man screw around with another guy?

But then the truth would eventually come out to Dan and Jack that he had revealed all.

Once a Snitch, Always a Snitch, as Dan Stark continually reminds him.

But can he snitch on Dan Stark?

Yes, he decides.

Julius once took a bullet for Dan. And he figures Dan still owes him for that.

Sure, Dan will be pissed. So will Jack. Liz, too. But Julius knows that he’ll actually be doing everyone – including himself – a favor.

Besides, it’s his responsibility. Once a Snitch, Always a Snitch.

Lol, this is perfect. Julius gets himself in all kinds of trouble.

HA, you're absolutely right about Liz; she has said that before, and this scenario would for sure would get her to say it again.

I had a tough time with this, though...I didn't want Julius to appear like he's being a totaly pr*ck about it, but I'm not sure it reads that he's not.

Maybe I should try for 300 words, to get more nuance and backstory and inner thoughts.

These things are hard to do. :D

Word limits are hard no matter what. 300 words might give you a little more room though.

I don't think Julius was a prick. He had a hard decision to make and even though it might hurt people he had to make it.

My first plan was 100 words, actually. :D Then I needed more room to go to 200. Then I was at about 215-220, and chopped down. Sometimes chopping down is easier than padding up.

My problem is that I have trouble with cutting things out. That's why I barely do challenges. Word Counts. pfff.

Well, chopping down isn't so easy, either. :D

But every once in a while I need the challenge.

Arrrgh - I keep editing my posts to change to good Guys icons. Sorry.
