Drabble 500 words
Giles/Xander
PG rated
Xander had happily found his tuned out place, only hearing one word in five that the other Scoobies were saying.
Blah blah blah blah monster
Blah blah blah blah big teeth
Instead his thoughts had turned to his current view.
The kind of view that really needed to be captured in some sort of artistic form for future generations to admire.
No, hang on. That view belonged solely to Xander, well if he was king of the universe and ask for anything.
There are only a few perfect asses in the world and Xan was sure he was staring at one of them.
"So what do you think Xander?" Willow asked eagerly.
Still wallowing in the view, Xander replied dreamily. "Yeah I'd definitely bend Giles over the counter and have my wicked, manly way with him."
Giles narrowly missed banging his head when he straightened up too fast, spinning around.
That was the first thing Xander noticed, his view had been spoilt.
The second was the utter silence.
He slowly looked around at his friends.
Willow blinked.
Buffy blinked.
Tara blinked.
Spike blinked, then began to smirk.
Xan was filled with a growing sense of dread.
"I didn't say that out loud, did I?" He squeaked.
Willow nodded.
Xander groaned and started banging his head against the table.
Tara was nice enough to put her hand in the way so he didn't damage himself too much.
"Why?" He asked. "Why can't this be the time the Hellmouth opens and swallows me up."
Giles hadn't said a word, which worried Xan, but he just couldn't look at him.
"Coffee!"
Everyone jumped at Willow's exclamation.
"We need to go get coffee! I have a sudden need for caffeine filled goodness."
Tara nodded and stood up when Willow did, who was dragging a still blank Buffy to her feet.
"We're going for coffee! Come on Spike."
Spike pouted. "Don't want any. Happy here."
"Spike!"
Grumbling he joined them, not willing to make her angry.
Alone now, Xander wondered how to make a graceful exit before Giles regained the gift of speech.
"Was there something you wanted to say to me Xander?" The older man asked surprisingly calm.
Damn. Not fast enough.
"Don't you think I've said enough?" Xan moaned pitifully.
"Not really. How about - Giles would you like to get a drink sometime, or would you like to have dinner with me. Or even Giles I really *like* you."
Xander's head shot up.
Rupert approached him, smiling slightly. "You know that you cannot always skip to dessert first, Xander. Even though I find the idea rather... appealing."
"Eeep!"
A full on grin now.
"Was there something you wished to say to me Xander?" Giles purred.
"Are you possessed?"
Rupert laughed.
"No, I assure you I'm not. Anything else?"
"Giles, would you like to have dinner with me?" Xander asked tentatively.
"I would love to have dinner with you..."
Xan breathed a huge sigh of relief, smiling.
"And Xander, I get to choose dessert."
