He watches him with dread as he approaches and tries not to visibly shake. "You've checked the lists?"
"Twice," the old man answers without a pause, a jolly smile spread over his bright, red cheeks. There's a twinkle in his eye, and Frosty knows well what that means.
"You've watched the Naughty ones?"
"Several times," Santa answers, his eyes now gleaming and his teeth spreading wide. "Many have been very, very naughty this year!" Unlike the legends, he doesn't just watch children; he watches all ages, and all their acts.
Frosty silently submits himself to what is to come, but not without one final plea, "Please don't let Crystal find out."
"This will forever be our secret, my friend."
His beefy arms wrap around him, and for once, Frosty is warm. Yet that's the very problem: He's far too warm for a snowman. Santa may only come down the chimney once a year for Mrs. Claus, but for Frosty, this almost happens too often. Still, he thinks as he begins to melt in Santa's bear hug, part of his body embedded in Frosty's snow, what a way to go!
"Don't worry, my friend. I'll build you again when Christmas is over."
