"The Scent of a Man"

Andrew breathes in deeply, savoring the smell of the man in bed with him. Salty swear and tangy come, exotic cologne and male musk. Old leather and parchment, tea and stout.

Not quite daring to believe his luck, he reaches out to touch. To run his hand down a muscled arm, feeling the warmth and solidity of it. Still, he has to ask, sleepy-voiced and sated: "Are you real?" he whispers. "Or did I just make you up?"

Giles' arm encircles his waist. "Andrew," he says, amused, "rest assured, this is as far from a dream as one can get…"

I don’t want to get old when you stay this age forever. You know all that live fast, love hard, and leave a great looking corpse…

I want to choose when I get to go. I don’t want to die old and weak, don’t want to die in my sleep.

I want to feel it. I missed most of my life already, and I don’t want to miss my death. I want to embrace it.

I want to smell it.
